Passing of Sam Parker

Wrestling Australia is saddened to hear of the passing of Sam Parker.
Sam has been an integral part of Wrestling in Victoria and Australia for the past 70 years.
Sam's dedication to the sport of Wrestling has shaped the sport in Australia, and countless athletes have Sam to thank for introdcuing them to the sport that he loved.
Sam competed at the Rome 1964 Olympic Games and was an emergency for the 1956 Olympic Games.

2023- Sam Parker OAM "For outstanding service to wrestling"
LIFE MEMBER OF WRESTLING VICTORIA
Sam was awarded life membership to Wrestling Victoria in 2023 in recognition of years of dedication and service to the sport .
GOLD LIFE MEMBERSHIP OF WRESTLING AUSTRALIA
In 2020 Sam was one of the first people to be awarded life membership to Wrestling Australia and was recognised as making a direct and significant contribution to the succss of wrestling as a coach, volunteer and committee member.
Sam acted as manager and coach for international competitions from 1968 to 2016 including Commonwealth Games and Olympic Qualification.
