Paris Olympic Qualification for Wrestling

Published Mon 05 Dec 2022

Dear Members & Friends of Wrestling,

This is a quick message to update you on Paris 2024 Qualifications.

Next year there will be official Stage One selection criteria released and we aim to send that by February once we have more details.

What we can tell you now is that if you intend to try and qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games, you SHOULD start preparing and training now as some of you are. There will be camps held at the AIS in Canberra most likely in February and then again in April with more later, these will be compulsory for athletes that wish to be eligible for qualification.

You should also start saving and planning your funding for these camps, events and the training involved. There will NOT be any funding available for these camps or events therefore now is the time for you to plan ahead for these costs. Raising funds through your friends & family, community and state clubs is a popular method and needs time, therefore starting your fund raising now would be a good idea.

The final Olympic Qualifier will be in either Morocco or Tunisia between 22nd & 24th March 2024. To be eligible to compete at this qualifier you will need to attend several camps, compete in your 2023 State Championships, 2023 National Championships, 2023 Oceania Championships and very possibly a Trials Tournament in January 2024 to qualify for the African / Oceania March qualifier. Your costs for all of these camps & events will need to be self-funded.

As mentioned, we strongly recommend you talk to your coaches and start planning your training & funding for the abovementioned events of next year and 2024.

The qualification system document can be found here.
