Sport Integrity
WHAT IS SPORT INTEGRITY?
Threats to a sport’s integrity can include competition manipulation and sports gambling, doping, the improper use of drugs and medicine, and behaviours that impact people’s positive experience of sport, such as discrimination or abuse, including against children.
Integrity in sport means that participants, officials, supporters, and fans can participate in and enjoy sport, confident in the knowledge that they are part of a safe, fair, and inclusive environment.
All of our members and participants have an obligation to protect and maintain the integrity of sport, as well as the health and wellbeing of everyone involved.
We work closely with Sport Integrity Australia (SIA), the national coordination agency for sport integrity threats. For more information visit www.sportintegrity.gov.au
Safeguarding Video Series
Wrestling Australia has produced a set of 6 videos highlighting the key aspects of the National Integrity Framework, each video can be viewed on Instagram:
- Understanding Integrity in Wrestling
Wrestling is more than a sport, it’s a community built on integrity! Our National Integrity Framework guides how we behave, keeping it safe, fair, and inclusive for all. Don’t tap out on doing what’s right. Stay in the match for integrity! - Words Can Hurt (Verbal Abuse, Harassment & Discrimination)
Think about your words! "Banter" should never make someone feel bad, and using insults or offensive jokes is harassment or discrimination. It hurts, and it's not okay. Use your voice to lift people up, not take them down. Speak up if something's not right. - Being Shut Out (Bullying & Exclusion)
Bullying crosses the line! Intentionally leaving someone out, the "silent treatment," or misusing power are all forms of bullying that cause distress. Everyone deserves to feel welcome. If you see it happening, call it out and pin it down. - Protecting Children and Young People
Wrestling Australia has a 100% commitment to keeping children safe. Harm, abuse, or neglect is unacceptable, so we follow strict Child Safe Practices. Guard our future to protect our kids. If a child is at risk of immediate harm, report it to authorities today. - Integrity in Competition & Health Fairness is key! Don't ever improperly alter a match or bet on our sport; that protects integrity. Your health and safety are vital, too. Don’t take shortcuts, play fair and wrestle clean.
- Online Safety & Awareness What you say or share online matters. Before you post, THINK: Is it True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, Kind? Online content isn't private and can cause real hurt. Block cyberbullies.
