Welcome to Wrestling Australia

Wrestling Australia Inc is the Peak Australian (National) Sporting Organisation for the Olympic sport of wrestling in Australia.

We exist to develop wrestling in Australia, including Freestyle, Women’s and Greco-Roman Wrestling as well as the non-Olympic Beach Wrestling and SOMBO and Indigenous styles of Wrestling.

The associations role is to encourage and develop the widest participation and highest proficiency in the sport of Olympic Wrestling within Australia.

Through the development of coaches and officials,the association provides leadership to the sport and enables the states of Australia the ability to coordinate programs and activities.

Athletes are being warned about the prohibited substance Higenamine, following a flood of positive tests stemming from popular dietary supplements.

More information in regards to the prohibited substance can be found here.

All athletes are encouraged to read the information and to make themselves aware of the substance.

2017 Senior World Championships

Wrestling Australia is proud to be sending a team of 6 athletes and two coaches to the 2017 Senior World Wrestling Championships to be held between the 21st-26th August 2017 in France.

The team consists of 4 female athletes:

Rupinder Kaur- 48kgs

Jessica Lavers-McBain-53kgs

Carissa Holland – 55kgs

Ariadne Burkhart- 58kgs

Along with 2 male athletes:

Liam Neyland- 65kgs

Connor Evans-74kgs

The two coaches that will be accompanying the team are Talgat Ilyasov and Konstantin Ermakovic.

2017 Cadet World Championships

Wrestling Australia is happy to announce that Tom Barns will be attending the 2017 Cadet Wrestling World Championships that will be held between the 5th-10th September in Greece.

Tom will be accompanied by Alan Landy.

2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG)

This event will be held in Ashgabat between the 17th-27th September 2017.  Wrestling Australia is pleased to announce that the following six athletes have been selected to represent Australia at the AIMAG:

2018 Commonwealth Games

Selection Event- Wrestling Australia has informed the state association that the selection event for the 2018 Commonwealth Games will be held on the 25th November, 2017.
